Laboratory module is divided to preparation room and PCR room.

Sample preparation room:

1) Samples are initially processed in biosafety cabinet (BSLII) and are transferred to automated nucleic acid extraction system.

2) The Maxwell® Clinical CSC automated nucleic acid extraction system (Corning) is used for DNA extraction from blood samples.

3) Multichannel microvolume spectrometer is used for DNA quantification. This feature is already integrated to Maxwell system, but for back up or in case few samples are under testing, manual detection might be preferred.

4) Samples and extracted DNA are stored in freezer (-20 to -80: depending on storage duration)

5) MagRack is for back up and for manual DNA extraction.

Auxiliary equipment in sample preparation room

1) Autoclave for used sample decontamination

2) PC for sample receipt

3) Multichannel microvolume photometer

4) Freezer (+4/-20) for storage of reactives and kits

5) Microplate centrifuge

6) Centrifuge for Eppendorf tubes

7) Pipets

PCR room:

1) PCR plates containing DNA are filled with PCR mixes

2) PCR reaction are carried out using 2 PCR machines

3) Results are processed with PCR workstation
